Christopher Dodd, Eagle Scout Candidate with Troop 100.
I am currently leading an Eagle Scout Service Project to honor our local veterans at
Glenbard South High School.

Before Christopher came to explain his Eagle Scout project this is the letter we received. As a veteran myself, I must say I am partial to his desire. Please consider whether or not you can help [with funding his project.

I am coordinating the design and installation of a permanent Veteran Memorial Wall at Glenbard South High School. This memorial will feature custom-engraved walnut plaques with black brass plates to recognize the service of alumni and community members who have served in the armed forces. My goal is to create a lasting tribute that inspires current students and honors those who have sacrificed for our country.
To ensure the memorial is of the highest quality, I am fundraising to cover approximately $10,000 in material and engraving costs.
This includes six large perpetual plaques, each capable of holding 50–60 nameplates, and a large brass plaque that unifies and explains the sacrifices made.

I have recently received formal approval from the Three Fires Council for my fundraising application. Knowing Rotary’s commitment to "Service Above Self" and its support for veteran causes, I would appreciate the opportunity to briefly present my project at a club meeting or, if possible, to have it shared externally.

I would value any insight you could offer on how best to engage local donors or if the club would be interested in sponsoring a portion of the memorial. I have attached a brief overview of the project, along with a list of the specific materials required. Thank you for your time and for all that Rotary does for Glen Ellyn. If you would like to know anything more specific, please feel free to reach out to me.

Sincerely,
Christopher Dodd

Having heard his passion for this project and the fact that his father was a veteran and is his impetuous for the project, I was very moved. Thank you to all the members that gave what they had in their pockets at the meeting when he and his mother were present. I hope the club can do more. This is a big and lasting program. He has planned for longevity and care of the project into the future…Attached is a QR code that will go to his donation page…PJ Keenon
