Nacy will share with us first hand her experinece fighting polio.​

I was growing up on the southwest side of Chicago. In August of 1954, when I was 7, I became very ill with general malaise and flu like symptoms. Shortly after I became ill, I tried to get out of bed and I couldn’t. I was eventually taken to Contagious Diseases Hospital, where I stayed for probably a week. I was then transferred to the children’s Sarah Morris wing of Michael Reese Hospital, where I was hospitalized for two months. Then my journey to recovery began...
